Projects of Team Skillocity

The developers of our team, Pranav Sawant and Anshuman, have undertaken many projects especially in the field of CS and Physics. These projects highly boosted our academic repertoire and helped us to gain a lot of knowledge and experience. By working on these projects we not only got better at the respective subjects but also had a lot of fun! We hope to undertake more projects in the future and further enhance our knowledge and understanding in the educational field. Here are the highlights of some of our projects :

1) Skillocity : We started Team Skillocity in January 2021 with an aim to share our knowledge with other like minded readers. We are fortunate to have amassed nearly 10,000 viewers in just a few months and this project is still going strong. All of our projects are connected to Team Skillocity and this was our first project as a team. We will continue to share our knowledge with more readers and hope to post relevant and interesting content.

2) PWA (Powerful WebApp) deployment :  This was a mini project undertaken by our developers and now our readers can now add a shortcut to our blog which runs through chrome, on their device. Usually, if you add a shortcut for a website, it would just add a shortcut to a single webpage you added a shortcut to. But in our case, after extensive coding, we have enabled our user the ability to add a shortcut to the entire website to make it easier to access, without the need of opening Chrome. This makes it feel just like an app!

With this feature, our users can now enjoy an app like experience on their laptop or phone without having to worry about our "app's" memory usage, since it uses almost none.

That's it! Check your home screen and you should find an icon with our logo. You can now access our blog just by clicking on the icon without opening chrome and typing out our website address.

3) SkillChem : SkillChem was one of the toughest projects undertaken by our developers and it required extensive programming in Android Studio to build our first native app. The app is now ready and can be accessed on the Amazon App Store and also from a google drive that we have shared.

After about 2 months of debugging and fixing errors and finding the right algorithm, we were finally able to deploy the app for public use.

4) Diabetes Detector WebApp : This web app was created by our developers and is a classic application of machine learning in the medical field. Machine Learning has no limits and it can be deployed in multiple sectors and can greatly help in the lives of common people just like you and me. This web app is hosted on streamlit. The dataset for training the data was provided to us by Kaggle. The machine learning algorithm used is Random Forest Classifier.

5) Special Research on Habitability of planets : Since our developers (especially Anshuman) are interested in a number of subjects and not just CS, we did a small research on the habitability of planets. It can be used to qualitatively compare and help in determining the habitability potential of a planet. A number of parameters such as Spectral Class, Mass, Radius and Temperature of the planet were taken into account and an index was formulated. We called this index as the Narlikar Index, named after the   Indian astrophysicist Jayant Narlikar.
